Band bio
Hailing from the northwestern corner of the continental US, female fronted rock outfit, Hills of Elysium shine through the grey mist and residual mourning of grunge that blankets and muffles much of the modern music scene in Seattle. Affectionately dubbed “HoE” by fans and locals, Hills of Elysium have been shock-rocking their way up the ranks for the last few years, and they’re only getting started.
Hills of Elysium have been consistently lumped into countless genres including punk, goth, hard rock, metal, and shock rock. As HoE draws on influences from an array of bands, it is no surprise that listeners vary so drastically in their attempts at classifying the band’s sound. Influenced by such groups as Jack off Jill, Marilyn Manson, From Autumn to Ashes, Animal Alpha, and numerous Punk and Riot GRRL era bands, Hills of Elysium successfully meld elements from each of the aforementioned genres, resulting in something fresh, innovative, and insightful.
Comprised of September Garland (Vocals), Matthew Herrin (Bass), Valdemar Huguet (Drums), and Vibeke Stølan (Guitar), Hills of Elysium have achieved numerous accomplishments in a relatively short time within the industry. Among their most notable accomplishments is that of their self-released debut full length album, CIGADENT. Recorded and produced by Justin Armstrong at the renowned Robert Lang Studios in Shoreline, WA, CIGADENT has garnered the band much success. The album’s single “Planet Full of Strangers” has been in heavy rotation on local and internet radio stations, is included on 104.9 FM’s compilation, “From the Monkey’s Garage Vol. 2”, and has won numerous awards and competitions, including placing in the top 10 in Converse’s Get out of the Garage Competition in November 2009. Most recently, Hills of Elysium anticipate the release of their debut music video for “Planet Full of Strangers”; a collaborative project with Seattle filmmaker Thaddeus Byrd.
Hills of Elysium have big plans for the coming year, including a return to the studio to record new material, riot-inspiring live performances, and much, much more. Hills of Elysium are sure to make waves in the national scene over the next few years, and strive for nothing less than the attainment of their goals as aspiring up and comers in rock.
