Pimp This: Fastlane Flower

What good is having a blog if you don’t use it to pimp out your friends’ bands? I’ve been asking myself that very question for a few months now, and finally, annoyed with my own incessant nagging, I have decided that I should do exactly that.

I won’t go into an in-depth review or a long, boring story about my friendship with members of any bands I write about. Being that they are my friends, you can safely assume that they are really fucking cool people, make amazing, unique, kick ass, and/or beautiful music, and put on a goddamn good show.

No pretentious bull shit. No set standards. No ulterior motives, other than my own selfish desire for my friends and their bands to achieve some kind of exposure, success, or infamy.

Read on, and discover some pretty fucking cool music that had you not been bored enough to read this blog, may never have had the pleasure of listening to.

Band #1 on September’s “Pimp This” List: FASTLANE FLOWER

Band Name: Fastlane Flower
Location: Oslo, Norway
Genre: “Death Rock with a Taste of Honey”
Members: Eline Stolan, Chris Slettvoll, Alexander Klæboe, Marius Sommernes, Jan Tore Varne, Michael Johansen

Fastlane Flower is fronted by Eline Stolan, sister of Vibeke Stolan and good friend of Hills of Elysium. They’ve been actively gigging in Norway for the past year or so and hope to make their way to the States in the not too distant future. Earlier this year they released their debut album, “Deadline” which has been steadily gaining ground in Europe, and has been in heavy rotation here at the HoE House for the past few months, serving as a befitting soundtrack to many a late night meeting of the minds over a bottle of absinthe.

I guarantee you’ll be hearing a lot more about this band over the coming year, and maybe even a rumor or two about Hills of Elysium sharing a stage with them at some point, which I will neither confirm or deny at this present moment. ;)

“Deadline” is currently available through iTunes and Amazon. GO BUY IT NOW!!! To hear more from and about Fastlane Flower, check them out on the following sites:

**This has been the first installment of September’s “Pimp This” List. Stay tuned for more and be sure to check out each of the bands featured. Seriously. I have impeccable taste in friends, music, and friends who make music. You’ll thank me later.**
